Would you prefer to see the 16th team come from Gold Coast or the Central Coast??? I personally think you can cross the Wellington bid off the list. In my option the Wellington bid should fund a reserve grade team that could play in our premier league comp. But thats another issue.
Gold Coast and the Central Coast appear to have the fan base, The backers and the grounds.
I would love to see both team gets through so hopefully we can find a third serious bid and turn it into a 18 team comp and possibly somewhere doen the track a 20 team comp.
What do you all think???

What do you all think???Check out the endless number of threads already discussing this topic, such as "Great game, poor crowd" or "Gold Coast Dolphins". The Wellington reserve grade idea isn't too bad.
go the gold coast, some of the broncos supporters might travel down there for home games too and we have some of the best crowds in the comp up here. Their bid for tuquiri could be promising too, though i dont know about spending all your dough on wingers.
then again what else will they spend the 3.5 on in the first year =P

Gold Coast.
Gold coast for sure. If we must have a central coast team, move one of the sydney teams there, we don't need an extra NSW team.

Gold Coast all the way.
If the NRL do grant the Gold Coast a licence, what sort of stadium wil the QLD government build to fix up Carrara? Will it be an oval-shaped field or rectangular? And also what will be the capcity of the proposed stadium? I'm hoping somewhere along the lines of 35,000
Gold Coast will be the team because Queensland doesn't have the same pokie tax as nsw.

The Central Coast.
Only because i've been a Bears fan all my life. ........... So i'd be silly if i didn't want to see them back.
But i have absolutley no doubt, that BOTH the Gold Coast and Central Coast have more to offer Rugby League than some of the teams that are currently playing in the NRL.

I'd prefer gold coast so I could see two souths games a year
Gold Coast for sure.
I don't want the NRL to revert back to the NSWRL

But they will be building a new western grandstand, while retaining the eastern grandstand. They also are correcting the configuration a bit more ie: moving the grandstand closer to the field (more rectangular).
They already have $44 million to spend doing this. Considering it cost $225 million to build Suncorp, $44 million should build a bloody decent Western grandstand!
The lighting at Carrara is already magnificent, the best in Australia.

Gold Coast all the way. Then Perth and Adelaide

Perth and Adelaide? Nah.
They've tried that and it was a dismal failure.
Maybe the NRL could add both (17 team competition seems awkward... but) teams in 2006.
If I had to choose, Gold Coast definitely by a LOOONG margin. Relocate a current NSW team to central coast.

So was the Gold Coast, 3 times.

The Gold Coast was never a dismal failure. Could of been much better, but definitely not a failure.
The NRL kicked them out.

thats the same with perth and adelaide
adelaide had bigger home crowds than most teams in the comp now

That's because they were a new side.
Every new side's first year gets decent crowds.

the nrl gave up way too easy on perth and adelaide, they barley got a chance, and its true, GC were kicked out, also back then, the GC was smaller and was not absolutley thrieving for rugby league like they are at the moment, theres also no chance of there being 17 teams, because one of the goals is to eliminate the bye, relocation of another club (not too keen..) is the only way the second bidder would get in, most probably they will be waiting a bit longer...but yes, expect to see the 'Dolphins' as i like to call them, in the comp by 2006, im a broncos supporter, but im telling you, that there is a buzz up in brizzy and people are mad for another team

Dunno how correct this is but from what I understand of the pokies tax is that QLD has had it for quite a long time now and part of the reason that NSW clubs got so much richer than the QLD clubs a few decades ago is they didn't have this tax.

Gold Coast seems like the logical team for the 16 expanded competition....New South Wales already has around 11 teams and another one would decrease supporters from one club in order to boost the support for another.
If a team was set up on the Gold Coast than it would boost the game in Queensland....more so than it already is. In saying this, if Melbourne's home crowds keep diminishing, then the future mightn't look so bright for the Storm....

NSW was the only state to have them since the 1950's, then in the 1990's every other state started legalising them.

I think both teams deserve a chance really. CC for the Bears supporters, who have been robbed of a team. No-one reallt cares about this, but its a huge issue to me.
And GC because of the huge amount of NSW teams compared to Qld ones.
There is a competitive team of Queenslanders playing out of Queensland, and one of CC born players, which is more than you can say for some other teams (Melbourne etc.)
But I REALLY hope they dont bring both teams in! It will be the death of them both.

If the NRL is thinking of bringing in both the Central Coast and Gold Coast, then it will have to be done over a period of time. Not like the fiasco that was years back, when suddenly Chargers, Rams, Reds, Crushers, Warriors and Cowboys joined the comp. within a one year period and were left to fight it out for players, money and fans!
